About

ABOUT MY ART JOURNALING

I’ve always been a very avid journaler and record keeper. In the beginning that came from awkwardly teetering between extrovert and introvert. At the end of the day, there was always so much more in my mind that I couldn’t or didn’t want to share with others, but that still needed expression. In college, I was always with a small note-sized Cachet book and a large book. The larger one was what I took out in class when I bored of the subject and the smaller ones I would inconspicuously jot pictures and ideas in as I rode the subways or prattled through a rough neighborhood.

As I began traveling, the journals took on much more practical tone, what I learned, my research, would pile up in the books along side sketches of people, phonetic prounounciations, local scripts and attempts to learn local languages, snippets of conversations, and scraps of paper and ephermia found along the way.

So far my journals have accompanied me from New York to Los Angeles, to El Salvador, Europe, Scandinavia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Tanzania. I am dreaming of seeing: the Himalaya, Burma, Iceland, the Arctic, and ....fine, basically anywhere.

When I'm not adding to my art books or teaching, I work in web design and costume design. When I'm not designing graphics and costumes, I'm most definitely climbing rocks. If for some reason I'm not climbing, I'm making maps, trying to get out of the country, dreaming of mountaineering, or reading some ridiculous book on Mount Everest, K2 or the Arctic.
Thanks for stopping by. If you are interested in hosting a workshop, have questions, or want to drink lots of coffee and eat chocolate with me, please feel free to email.
